HOW CAN WE LEARN TO COMMUNICATE?
Every person has the ability to communicate with spirits, however, it is not advisable to start communicating on one's own without guidance from someone who is in the know how of the proper procedure. If an attempt is made to communicate without proper knowledge then one may encounter some unwelcome experiences. There are numerous benefits and advantages that can be gained when communicating with good spirits. If communication is not done with proper care and in a correct manner one may end up communicating with the bad spirits. Therefore, a guidance from someone who is already communicating will be a good help. The person who already communicates can obtain God's permission for the person who wants to communicate with someone in the good Spirit World. God generally permits this so that the one that wants to communicate as well as the soul in the good Spirit World who is communicating can both progress. (related article.....)
It is recommended that the following procedure be followed by those who are tempted to communicate on their own without guidance of an experienced auto-writer.
Procedure:

Prior to starting ensure that you have a book and a pen ready. Avoid using loose sheets of paper.

The first and the most important thing to do is to light a diva or a candle. No one should over look this step.

After having lit a diva or a candle, a small protection prayer should be said (Example: God please protect me against all the evil forces, evil souls and evil spirits, including the mischievous ones that mean no harm).

Ask God to allow a soul in the good Spirit World or your own spirit guide or any soul that God chooses to communicate with you.

Invite this soul to start communicating with you.

Put the pen to the paper by holding the pen firmly yet light enough to allow the pen to move. (Initially one will get a feel of the force of communication and so one should allow the pen to move along with the feel of the force. Gradually one starts to get curves, letters, words and eventually sentences and finally messages).

To end the session one should say 'good bye' to the soul that was communicating and ask the soul to communicate with you the next time you want to communicate. Thank God for allowing this communication to take place and request Him to permit this soul to communicate with you again.
During the process of communication no words should be spoken. You should shut your eyes only at the time of saying the protection prayers. At the time of auto-writing your eyes should be open and one should focus on the pen as it writes for us.
Each communication session must be done in the day, between sunrise and sunset and there should be a gap of at least three hours between each communication session. Try to limit each session to 45 minutes.
